File this under “Is it really that serious?!” People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals have beef with The Bat. Batman has been removed PETA’s Top 10 Animal-Friendly Superheroes list for beating dogs in self-defense in the box office smash The Dark Knight.

An entry on the animal rights group’s offical blog cries: Batman beats dogs—who knew?? P’shaw! And to think we gave him a spot on our coveted Top 10 Animal-Friendly Superhero list!

The Caped-Crusader has been replaced by Superman:

….We’ve decided to take all the write-in votes for Hellboy seriously, knock our batvocate pal off the list, and replace him with the kitten-cuddling man in red.
