Never underestimate the power of a Peanut: In the battle of the Thanksgiving Special — Charles Schultz’s animated holiday classic, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, now in its 38th year, edged out reigning pop queen Lady Gaga in the ratings. Charlie and the rest of the Peanuts Gang amassed about 400,000 more viewers than A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, according to Nielsen numbers.
Of course, neither special was any match for a recycled edition of The Big Bang Theory.
“All the Thanksgiving specials Thursday night couldn’t hold a candle to a repeat of the CBS comedy [Big Bang Theory], which delivered 11.2 million viewers and a 3.6 adult demo rating. Compare that to ABC’s Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (5.8 million, 1.8) and A Very Gaga Thanksgiving (5.4 million, 1.6).”
