I guess those sappy little love songs pleading for Paula to come back to him didn’t help Robin one bit.
Actress Paula Patton has filed for divorce from her singer husband, Robin Thicke.
The actress cited “irreconcilable differences” in her filing and is asking for joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Julian Fuego Thicke.
The estranged couple first announced their separation in February through a joint statement.
“We will always love each other and be best friends,” the two said at the time. “However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”
The couple were high school sweethearts and married in June of 2005.
During an April deposition, Thicke, 37, gave insight as to why Patton, 38, left him, saying that he was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol for a large part of 2013.
He explained that while promoting his album ‘Blurred Lines,’ “Everyday I woke up, I would take a Vicodin to start the day and then I would fill up a water bottle with vodka and drink it before and during my interviews. I don’t recall many things that I said. In fact, I was quite surprised when I read them back sometimes.”
In the same deposition, Thicke admitted that he doesn’t consider himself to be an “honest person.”
“That’s why I’m separated,” Thicke said. “I told my wife the truth. That’s why she left me.”
Fans of Thicke’s were disappointed and sad when they first heard the news of the split. You have to give the man a little credit for trying to win his wife back though. Thicke dedicated an entire album to his wife, titling it ‘Paula’, proclaiming his love and how he would never stop loving her. His live performances were an apology to her and his fans for the man he had become. The album has track titled ‘Get Her Back,’ ‘Still Madly Crazy,’ ‘Love Can Grow Back,’ ‘The Opposite Of Me,’ and ‘Forever Love’, that really show’s how desperate this man is to get his wife back. Guess it was a little too late.
We wish them the best.
