Disgraced celebrity chef Paula Deen doesn’t believe the jive is the best way to charm her way back into America’s living rooms. Deen’s turned down a chance to compete on Dancing with the Stars, Us Weekly said Wednesday.
A source close to Deen told the tabloid:
“The dance floor is not the appropriate forum for her.”
The portly foodie has come under fire recently for admitting in a deposition that she has used the N-word in the past.Deen insists that she’s only used the racial slur once — and it was after being held at gunpoint during a bank robbery 30 years ago.
“I know how I treat people. I know my love for people and I’m not gonna sit here and tell everything I have done for people of color. I’m not gonna do it. Somebody else can tell that. I have never with any intention hurt anybody on purpose, and I never would.”
Despite her protests, Paula found herself the object of widespread social media mockery — both for her use of the N-word and her confession that she once sought to staff a wedding with Black waiters with “slave” aesthetics.
Deen lost her contract with Food Network over the controversy and was dropped as the spokesperson for pork producer Smithfield Foods. J.C. Penney, Caesar’s Casino and Kmart also cut ties with Paula.
