So you think you want Paula?
She’s been unemployed for less than 24 hours, but Paula Abdul already has a new job offer on the table. Former American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has invited the “Rush Rush” singer to join his FOX reality dance hit So You Think You Can Dance as a judge and choreographer.
On Tuesday night, Paula took to her Twitter page to reveal that she would not be returning as a judge for the ninth season of American Idol after failing to come to a satisfactory contract agreement with series producers.
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon,” she Tweeted. “What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”
Sad times, she will be missed. On the upside, Nigel wants Paula to know that she’s always welcome to use her expertise as a former Laker Girl and acclaimed choreographer on SYTYCD.
“We’ve certainly invited her here, and we’ve invited her to do some choreography this season as well. We just haven’t been able to get it together at the moment, obviously because negotiations with FOX have been at the top of her mind,” Lythgoe told Yahoo! Music of the offer.
