Paula Abdul Slapped With A Lawsuit

Loopy American Idol judge Paula Abdul has been sued by a California based production company on the grounds that she wiggled out of a deal permitting the company to shoot a series about her life.
The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Pilgrim Films and Television (PFTV) met with P.A and David Russo (her producing partner) in 2004 and discussed a talk show featuring Abdul. That idea became “Hey Paula,” based on the former Lakers cheerleader’s life.
The series will debut on Bravo at a yet-to-be determined date in 2007.
PFTV claims the deal fell demanded final editorial control over the final product. While the company was allegedly pitching the project to Oxygen, Paula admitted “she had secretly taken PFTV’s ‘Hey Paula’ project … to Bravo.”
Paula says: “While I’m not going to respond to this baseless lawsuit, I will say that “Hey Paula” is based upon my life and my ideas. Last I heard, I still own my own life.”
