Paula Abdul Confirms “Bruno” Prank — Paula Tricked By Sacha Baron Cohen
Paula Abdul has admitted that she was fooled by Sacha Baron Cohen’s comic alter ego Bruno and will likely be featured when the film — Bruno — arrives in theaters this July.
In an interview with The Johnjay and Rich Morning Show, the American Idol judge was told she had won an award for Artist of the Year in Germany and ended up taking part in a bizarre sit down interview with Sacha’s campy Austrian designer.
“I’m greeted by this futuristic dude with a mohawk – and he’s flaming,” recalled Paula.
“I’m like, ‘This is weird. Is this a variety show or something? I walk in and there was no furniture except a chair. And this guy Bruno introduces himself. He snaps his fingers and says, ‘Gardeners!’,” she recalled.
“And these two Mexican guys come in, and they drop down to all fours. I see him paying them like 10 bucks, and he says, ‘Sit down.’ And I said, ‘I’m not doing that!’”
“As I’m going to my car, they’re chasing me with cameras,” she added.
Paula only realized the fiasco when she was contacted by a reporter three weeks ago.
“I said, ‘I’ve never done anything with Sacha Cohen, they’re wrong!’,” she recalled. “At 2 o’clock in the morning, I woke up in a cold sweat and I went, ‘Oh my God!’ And I’m dying. Because you don’t expect it.”
