Dancing With The Stars will honor Patrick Swayze on its Sept. 23 live results show, PEOPLE has learned.

Swayze, who went from Broadway dancer to Hollywood star in box-office hits like Dirty Dancing and Ghost, died on September 14 after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of a choreographer, Swayze made a guest appearance on the first season of Dancing in 2005, teaching friend John O’Hurley a few dance moves in rehearsal.

“We have some very fond memories of [the late actor] coming to help us our when we were a tiny little show way back when,” says DWTS executive producer Conrad Green. “He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor. He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

It seems fitting to have the tribute on Dancing with the Stars. After all, he was on the show and it is what he is most known for. I can’t help but think of the cancer that took his life. I just lost my great aunt to the same disease only days ago. It saddens me that it is diagnosed at such a late stage. But the fact that Swayze and people like my aunt who are able to outlive their prognosis is somewhat uplifting. When they died, it was more of an acceptance of the disease. But for those loved ones around having to watch, it has to be one of the hardest things to witness. Knowing that they are suffering and even with the care of a nurse, it is just fearing that their days are coming to an end that makes it so hard. Prayers go out to his family.

I know I watched ever single movie Patrick made, and will miss him so much, I was very sad when I heard the news of his cancer as I too have lost someone to the disease and it moved so fast. My prayers are with his wife and family, friends and all of his fans too. RIP dear sweet man.

Aside from the usual contests, this Wednesday night show was the best ever on DWS. I am about to be 76, and my “last wishes” include playing the “Time of my Live” part of Dirty Dancing.
My mother never missed watching the movie
movie on TV. Casting Cheryl as Baby was perfect. Have not missed one episode and she is my favorite female dancer. And With The Circle of Life – won’t be able to top that night. However,
