Medium star Patricia Arquette, who began divorce proceedings against her longtime husband this week, is the latest celebrity to appear in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ “ABC” campaign to help fight animal overpopulation.

“More than 7 million dogs and cats are turned in to U.S. animal shelters every year,” Patricia says in the ad. “Please do your part to help end companion animal overpopulation. It’s as easy as ABC—Animal Birth Control. Always spay or neuter and adopt from your local animal shelter. Never buy an animal from a breeder or a pet shop.”
