Paris Hilton made an “extremely generous” donation toward the construction of a new medical building at Los Angeles’ Childrens Hospital, hospital officials confirmed Thursday, although they would not specify the amount. Paris’ donation will benefit the hospital’s 460,000-square-foot Childrens Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open its doors in 2010.

“The children I have met through my involvement with Childrens Hospital have truly touched my heart,” the twenty-seven year old socialite said in a statement. “I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses.”
