Owen Wilson attempted suicide twice before he stunned fans after supposedly slitting his wrists and trying to overdose on pills nearly two weeks ago.

The National Enquirer claims Owen was on a “deadly drug cocktail” in the months before his attempt, mixing illegal drugs with antidepressants and Valium and that the movie funnyman has struggled with depression for most of his life.

“A good portion of his life has been dedicated to fighting depression and addiction,” a family friend told the gossip weekly.

“Owen’s been on and off drugs for years – and this is actually the third time he’s tried killing himself.”

The magazine claims Owen’s latest suicide attempt was sparked by “a huge fight with a close friend who was working with him on a movie project”.

Owen was failing to come up with good material leaving him “demoralized that he let down his pal”.

“He’s a very sensitive soul and felt like crap for letting down his good pal.”

Other news sources are reporting that Owen’s most recent attempt on his life came after discovering ex-GF Kate Hudson snuggled up with actor Dax Shepard.

“Owen’s been so down since Kate broke up with him in June,” says one pal. “But he still thought he had a chance to get back together with her. Then Dax came along, and Owen realized there was no hope.” Another friend adds: ” He felt he’d lost the big love of his life.”
