Obama Peruvian Hairless Dog Offer

Peru is trying help The Obamas solve their dog dilemma by offering the family one of the country’s hairless, and often toothless, national dogs as a gift.
In his rousing victory speech last week, the President-elect promised to reward his two daughters, Malia, 10, and 7-year-old Sasha, with a new puppy. However, finding the right pooch could pose a problem since Malia is allergic to most breeds.
Well Peru is coming in to save the day…sort of.

Claudia Galvez plays with a four-month old puppy named “Ears” in Lima Tuesday.
Claudia Galvez, director of the Friends of the Peruvian Hairless Dog Association, has offered one of the pets to America’s new First Family.
“They do not cause any type of allergy and are very friendly and sweet,” she explains.
“We want to give a male puppy to Obama’s daughters, so they get to experience all the joys of having a dog but without any allergies.”

According to Peruvian folklore, being close to this breed can subside the symptoms of physical ailments, like asthma, intestinal problems, and arthritis.
But there is a catch.
Ms. Galvez says the dog would have to be called Machu Picchu in order to promote Peru’s top tourist attraction.
