Obama On “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” Oct. 27

You know what they say about desperate times: President Barack Obama is bringing his campaign message to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, White House spokesperson Dan Pfeiffer said Tuesday.

The president will appear in a taped interview on The Comedy Central series on Wednesday, Oct. 27, just days before the Nov. 2 mid-term elections, a crucial nailbiter for the embattled Democratic party. Obama, who was the first sitting president to appear on late-night talk shows, has made a number of appearances on unusual TV shows since taking office in Jan. 2009. In recent months alone, Obama has shown up on channels like MTV and ESPN — that’s a far cry from the Meet The Press-esque programs where past presidents have historically felt more comfortable.

Obama’s chatted-about Daily Show appearance comes just days shy of Stewart’s Rally to Restore Sanity on The National Mall Oct. 30. Stewart describes the rally is for people who think the loudest voices shouldn’t be the only ones people hear.

The president recently endorsed the event.
