let’s put a disclaimer after EVERY show saying that the characters portrayed on the show are NOTHING like real-life people. Lawyers, doctors, fire fighters, nurses, oh just on and on…

If you want to people to see how nurses really operate, make your own documentary or write a book. Showtime is not a springboard to promote your agenda.

Love the show!!!! I’ve been a night shift nurse for 6 years now. I’ve worked in several different cities and have done different specialities and different ages. With that said…every place I’ve worked has had some of the ethical situations portrayed in the show. I love it and I crack up every episode because it is soo much like real life. My fav quote is when she says something like…”What do you call a nurse with a bad back….unemployed”..gosh no words were ever more true!!! Oh and I love house also… :)

Yes so all doctors are like Dr Gregory House and all interns are like the Greys’ team.

Draw a line between fact and fiction – I’ve just watched some of season 1 and I love it! I just wanna give Grace a big hug and find out whats up.

again, it is a tv show. i am not a nurse, so i have no idea if this stuff really happens (although i would bet it does), but even so, those people who are upset by it are missing the point; it is entertainment!! after the first episode i knew it was going to be great!! i have personal ties to the show, but even if i didn’t, it would still be one of the best shows on tv!!

What?!@#$ It is a TV S-H-O-W people. Personally I LOVED it and am very much looking forward to the new season. Worth waiting for unlike the tv series “V”. If you are too moronic to differentiate between a tv show and real life maybe you need to TAKE some pills and call Nurse Jackie in the morning! LOL

Nurse Jackie is a great series. Anyone with half a brain knows it is fiction. If we wanted a true to life show of nurses in emerg we’d watch documentaries.
To all you nurses…..stop getting your stethoscope in such a twist. It’s good fiction!

That’s rubish.
It doesn’t “portray medical staff in a negative light”. I find they’re exagerating.
If they could only try and understand that serie writers do not plan to “criticise nurses” in any way.

This is a story about someones life. Not about “a nurse”.

The best show, it has always been about doctors what about Dr House he takes Vicodin ii po qid or even ii po q4h when u are watching it you see him taking his pills because needs to work and performed his JOB and does nurse Jackie and BOTH do a GOD job, we nurses are to take care of patients, cure them, doctors just diagnose them, the rest is up to us.

The members of the NYSNA are absolutely right. Nurse Jackie is flawed, but deeply committed to her patients and compassionate. Having been to NY hospitals I can say I witnessed very little of those traits.

Nurse Jackie is a delightful show to watch! The only complaints that I have are that it should be an hour long and that I am having to wait too long for the 2nd season.
