Nicole Richie is deadset on natural childbirth. The recovering heroin addict does not want to put any chemicals into her baby until she gives birth. The twenty-five year old former reality star is expecting a baby boy with rocker Joel Madden just in time for New Year’s.

Nicole “has been adamant about not putting any sort of drug or chemical into her body since she learned she was pregnant,” a friend tells Star. “Nicole has made her mistakes in the past, but she doesn’t want her child to suffer because of them.”

“She’s hoping to go through childbirth without an epidural or any other painkillers,” says the friend. “She feels if she can get through that without drugs, she can get through anything.”
