Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman is being lined up to play British pop legend Dusty Springfield in a new movie about the singer’s life.

The biopic will chronicle Dusty’s life from her rise to stardom during the British Invasion of the 1960s to her struggles with drugs, breakdowns, and bisexuality.

“It will be the real Dusty, a great artist who no one knew what to do with,” says director Michael Cunningham. “But she is going into history with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.”

Dusty Springfield died of breast cancer in 1999.
