Can’t we all just get along?
That’s a tall order when your name is Nicki Minaj and you’re going weave-to-weave with your nemesis, pop legend Mariah Carey. Judges bicker on talent shows all the time, but trust us, you’ve never seen it like this before.
The blogosphere has been ablaze all day amid reports that the divas were caught in explosive argument as they judged contestants during Tuesday’s American Idol audition in Charlotte. The fight was caught on camera and shows the “Starships” femcee screaming violent insults at Mariah.
Idol producers called off filming so the stars could cool off, but there are fears the newly-appointed judges will be unable to work together in future. The video, obtained by TMZ, shows Nicki firing off an X-rated tirade at Mariah, as fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban tried in vain to diffuse the confrontation.
“Think I’m playin? Think this sh*t is a f***ing joke? Think it’s a joke?… If you say one more disrespectful thing to me — off with your head!” Nicki shouted.
“I am not being disrespectful.”
Nicki shot back:
“Don’t tell me I’m insecure, don’t tell me I’m inadequate…You’re the insecure one sitting up there running down her resume every five minutes. I told them, I’m not f***ing putting up with your f***ing highness over there…Figure it out.”
The video ended with Mariah whining:
“Why do I have a three-year-old sitting around me? I can’t see my kids because you decided to have a little baby fit and going all around the stage.”
“Good, well then go see them now, go see them now…You’re boring as f**k.”
Spywitnesses insist it was the “Hero” hitmaker started it. A squeal reportedly told goss site Mouth To Ears:
“Nicki Minaj walked off of set because Mariah Carey kept making jabs at her. Nicki’s manager and team convinced her to come back to the show. Mariah kept at it and called Nicki a bitch and then proceeded to cuss her out…”
TMZ claims a show insider overheard Nicki taking her threats to the next level, ranting:
“If I had a gun, I would shoot her.”
Initial reports suggested that the women were “at each other’s throats,” but the pair publicly maintained there was no feud. Just last month, Nicki insisted she wasn’t fazed about working with Mariah because the pair collaborated on Carey’s 2008 single, “Up Out My Face.”
“I had so much genuine love for her and respect for her, I was shocked hearing the rumors as well. We’re there to help someone else become a superstar, I think if we disagree on the judging panel, then we disagree on the judging panel, it’s not something that’s going to bleed into our regular lives, we don’t take it home with us.”
