Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey reportedly scrapped plans for a lavish $2 million ceremony to renew their wedding vows after celebrity mags refused to purchase photos of the event, but that hasn’t stopped the odd couple from hitting up their rich homies for wedding gifts.

An insider tells the New York Post Nick and Mariah are requesting “fine china” and “very expensive silver steamware” on a wedding registry recently set up by the couple.

“Mariah’s assistant, Gina, sent out over 100 e-mails to her wealthy friends letting them know that she’s registered at Bergdorf Goodman if they want to buy her a present. It’s odd because she’s not even having a big wedding party or anything. It was assumed they’d have a big celebration when they got back [from the Bahamas], but no. They just want the gifts.”
