Faced with the likelihood that her career country music could be a short-lived one, Jessica Simpson is working on Plan B. The “Come On Over” singer has approached ex-husband Nick Lachey about once again joining forces on a new television show.

The former lovers have each experienced a career drought in the years since their hit MTV reality series Newlyweds went off the air.

“It’d be like Sonny and Cher, who continued their TV show after their divorce – and a field day for joke writers,” a spy revealed to the National Enquirer on Wednesday.

Don’t expect any ego-trippng from beau Tony Romo if Nick agrees to once again join Jess on the small screen; “Tony doesn’t see Nick as a threat, and he’d love Jess to stay busy during football season.”
