NKOTBSB, the pop supersized supergroup which combines ’80s boy banders New Kids on the Block and their ’90s counterparts The Backstreet Boys aren’t just heading out on tour this summer.
They’re collaborating on a new album.
The album, titled NKOTBSB, will include a host of brand new recordings as well as some old fan favorites. The first single, “Don’t Turn Out The Lights,” the NKOTBSB mash-up the group performed at the American Music Awards will lead the disc, which drops May 24. The disc will also include an exclusive NKOTBSB tour poster, a booklet with all new pictures, and personal messages from the band members. If you’re like us and can’t wait to get your hands on this compilation disc, you can pre-order it on the guys’ website. You might just see your name printed on the CD package, along with a few other lucky fans!
Now through March 24th, fans of New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys are encouraged to vote for their favorite classic tracks from each band here. The Top 5 songs from each group, as chosen by the fans, will be included on NKOTBSB. Songs like NKOTB’s “Please Don’t Go Girl,” “Step By Step,” and “(You Got It) The Right Stuff” are shoe-ins for inclusion. BSB, on the other hand, sparked a mini-controversy when they left “Shape of My Heart”—a Max Martin and Rami co-production that brought them a Top 10 hit off the ballot.
As Idolator.com points out, back in the days when MTV actually still aired music videos, “Shape of My Heart” set a record for the longest No. 1-rated video on Total Request Live.
The guys kick off their hit tour May 25th in Rosemont, IL at the Allstate Arena. It’ll continue on through August 7th in London, ON Canada at the John Labatt Centre.
The only thing that could make this news cooler is if that other classic boy band — New Edition — were also featured on the album/tour.
