New England Patriots Release Brandon Spikes Following Possible Hit-And-Run Incident
The New England Patriots released Brandon Spikes from their roster on Monday morning after he was involved in a possible hit-and-run incident. The Patriots just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to illegal activity.
The team dealt with the charges brought against former tight end Aaron Hernandez for over a year and the decision was finally reached recently with a jury finding him guilty. In addition, deflategate has been a big story in the offseason, resulting in Tom Brady’s suspension in 2015.
The recent events have clearly made the Patriots sensitive when it comes to criminal activity with the recent release of Spikes, a linebacker who was already a free agent before being dismissed by the team.

The New England Patriots don’t want to risk any more controversy surrounding their team and, as a result, they even released Brandon Spikes prior to his meeting with the police regarding the incident.
Although the investigation is just beginning, the story behind Spikes’ release surrounds an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. Although technically he wasn’t seen at the incident, a 2011 Mercedes Maybach belonging to Spikes was found abandoned on the median of I-495 at around 3:30 AM on Sunday, having sustained serious front end damage.
State troopers who arrived on the scene asked the car’s OnStar what happened and somehow the machine told them that a deer had been hit, although there was no evidence of a deer anywhere nearby. However, they did find another car that had been rear-ended in the same area with its passengers sustaining minor injuries.
If Brandon Spikes played in NBA or MLB, his contract would be guaranteed and team would wait on if he's charged. But in NFL, see you later.

Someone will sign Brandon Spikes….I mean, he can still hit & run.

Of course, there is no definite connection between those two accidents yet, but it seems possible and the investigation will be ongoing. Brandon Spikes has had success with the team and was recently re-signed after playing with the team from 2010 until 2013.
The New England Patriots will have to do something major in order to regain their reputation after all of the recent allegations and controversy surrounding the team and they are already starting the season without their star quarterback.
