New Britney Spears Spiritual Song ‘Baby Boy (Why Do You Desert Me?)’

Britney Spears has laid down spiritual track ‘Baby Boy (Why Do You Deset Me)’ for her upcoming ‘comeback’ album. Insiders claim the song portrays Brit as being at a crossroads in her life - and she’s desperate for love. In one line she sings, “Every day I’m in a daze, looking for that someone. I sit and kneel and pray/Oh sweet love, why do you desert me?”

I liked it… not quite as good as Someday (I Will Understand), but it has it’s own kind of charm; rough around the edges, and very sad, kind of hypnotic. It’s problem is that it (as has been demonstrated in the tactful, open-minded comments above) isn’t solidly contemporary or solidly ‘old-fashioned’. It’s a mixture of the two, and the High, High Pop Culture doesn’t want anything thought provoking. All it wants is to drown in a haze of self-worship.
