It’s official. Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey will make up the newest panel of American Idol judges.
Longtime Idol host Ryan Seacrest revealed the news on Sunday, after tweeting a photo of himself with the panel:
“It’s official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!”
Both Nicki and Keith have played coy regarding their possible future’s with the show. But on Wednesday, Keith further fueled rumors when he bowed out of his coaching role on The Voice Australia, which co-stars Seal, Joel Madden and Delta Goodrem.
“I’ve been so fortunate to have been a part of The Voice. And as much as I’d love to do it again, it’s clear that the recording and promoting of a new album, a tour and other commitments will keep me from being a part of the second season.”
Urban reportedly inked his deal after chats with Enrique Iglesias hit the skids. In addition to Iglesias, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Nick Jonas were reportedly in the running to join the aging talent show.
For now, Keith and Nicki are ready to get down to the business of handpicking talent.
Urban went to Twitter to share the news, writing:
“SO excited to be joining the team.”
“New York auditions today & tomorrow!”
