The rapper Nelly has been arrested and taken into custody on felony drug charges. The arrest went down in Tennessee on Saturday.
In a press release the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.
During the routine traffic stop a state trooper smelled marijuana as they approached the tour bus. The officer issued a full search of the vehicle. During the search law enforcement officials uncovered five rocks of meth, a small amount of pot, and drug paraphernalia.
Along with the drugs, officers also uncovered several handguns.
Nelly is now facing felony possession and paraphernalia charges. The 40-year-old ‘Hot In Herre’ rapper was relased from Putnam County jail on $10,000 bond. He will appear in court on June 19.
