Neil Patrick Harris is the latest entertainment star replacing Paula Abdul at the judges table on American Idol.

FOX has confirmed that the How I Met Your Mother star joined Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, and Randy Jackson on day two of Idol auditions in Dallas, TX this afternoon.

It’s been an exiciting summer for Doogie Howser M.D., who has also been tapped to host the 2009 Primetime Emmys next month. Other celebs who have guest judged Idol include Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson.
