NBC “My Own Worst Enemy” Cancelled

NBC began trimming the fat on Wednesday by chopping Christian Slater’s struggling Monday night drama My Own Worst Enemy from the network’s roster after just four weeks on the air.
It is unclear if the network will broadcast the show’s unaired episodes. The cancellation is the result of low ratings, insiders say; the show sank to 4.3 million viewers among adults 18-49 after its series finale last month.

This is the only decent new show of the season. I do not usually once network dramas. This one caught my attention. I have been hooked. I would ask the network to give it a chance.

This is another evidence of the accountants running the show at the networks. Four weeks is not enough time to allow an audience to build. I thought it was a well written episodic show where the main characters were just now starting to define themselves. Christian, I’m sorry the NBC execs are such idiots. It was a great concept and ensemble of actors.

I realize some people have not discovered this show yet, but come on; how much reality crap do we have to endure?
Please reconsider. Thank you.

Bad choice tho cancel My Own Worst Enemy. The writers just need to close the gap between Edward and Henry and develop the family characters.

With so many plot twists and turns, writing, engaging acting on the part of Slater; all which makes us question our own dualities in this mezmorizing and engaging drama.
Yeah, that sounds like the show to cancel, NBC!.

The people @ NBC are dip****s! This show was great 2nd only to Heroes. They need to give it another shot, or at the very least give it SOME kind of ending, other than a cliffhanger and a “lights out” !

This is why I usually watch cable television. I took a chance on NBC, fell in love with this show and now the idiot execs are canceling it just when it gets good. Is Heroes next? (And in my opinion this show is far superior to the pale version that Heroes is of itself).
Oh well. I guess it’s back to cable for me. NBC, you suck.

Well now, good writing, good plot line, great acting and a truly unique story… what are you people thinking? Of course they canceled it! It is for people who think. With a complex story that needs to be carefully woven of time, MoWE is the worst formula for today’s instant mentality.

I’m extremely disappointed about the cancelation of My Own Worst Enemy. I’m not sure if NBC counts TiVo and Internet viewings, but if they did I’m sure the ratings would be respectable. Everyone I know watched it and enjoyed it. What a shame. NBC did it again. This network has no loyalty to its viewers. I really hope that a cable network picks this show up. It is excellent, I miss it already. :(

This project was the only reason I was switching from CBS to NBC. I guess I dont have to switch anymore. I agree with the accountants’ comment made earlier – there has to be some spirit to a show – NBC will need make better choices.

I amazes me that shows like My Name Is Earl is still on TV and some of these reality shows that have gotten OUT OF CONTROL, but when you have a show that you are actually excited to watch and talk about at work the next day, they cancel it. Shame on you NBC!

Has it occurred to anybody that NBC really doesn’t know how to measure an audience? All this talk of ratings and no one has any clue as to how many viewers are exclussively web-watchers! This is the same network that canceled Star Trek in 1966!

Well finally we see Christian Slater back in action like the old days when he use to be on the big screen remember the movie “Kuffs”. Anyway, just when everythings unfolding in this show, it gets cancelled. After reading some of the comments already posted, it seems to me that this show had a great fan base with all positive feedback, so NBC you must ask yourself “Why cancel a show that everybody seems to like, yet keep a show like My Name Is Earl?”. MOWE was a show that many adults would have continued to enjoy much like my gf and I looked forward to watching every Monday Nights, so NBC thanks alot eh.

I can’t believe they canceled MOWE. We are sitting here waiting for it to come back on and I look it up just to find it was canceled. It was a great show. I agree with Shady. We loved Journeyman also and then away they did with it. It makes me hate watching regular TV. Put Journeyman and MOWE back on. People are going to start watching nothing but cable TV and forgetting about the basic channels. Once you get into a show they rip it off the air. So why bother getting into them. Why bother watching basic TV if the shows we love are getting ripped off the air. There are people out there that like suspense shows and not them dumb reality shows. So I get it, let’s please the drama people who like the reality shows and forget the people who have sense that like the suspense/action shows. Now if you want to cut something cut the dang drama shows off. They STINK and that is not the word I wanted to use. NBC is pissing a lot of people off and when they have no ratings they are going to be sorry. I guess they really don’t care.

Oh my GOSH ! You cancelled this show. Are you people stupid or something? What you had here was “The Sopranos” for Network TV. With programming decisions like this, perhaps NBC should consider cancelling their executives. (Don’t worry executives, you can always find work with the government figuring ways to spend bailout money. Washington needs even more dumbasses like you.)

I think and agree with some people that there are some people at nbc that need to be fired. I was hooked no MY OWN WORST ENEMY, i loved the show and i love christian slater he is such a good actor and when i get into acting i would love to do a show or movie with him. I have no idea why even with low ratings why they cancelled this show but i do know that i am not to happy about it. Even though there is not much any one could do about it. I think there should be a petition started to keep the show on the air. I just hope they decide to air the unaired episodes. What is happening to tv, first they cancel Prison Break, and now this show.

We now have evidence that the executives at NBC have roots with CBS. Both have histories of cancelling some of the better written series, like Jericho and My Own Worst Enemy. If the same mindset were present at ABC, they would have also cancelled Lost. Maybe ABC could pick up the series?

It’s not just about the viewers right off the bat, it’s about loyalty to a show…that’s how you retain viewers…with this kind of loyalty, it could only get better…as the more people that were introduced to the show, it would probably be one of the highest ratings you would end up having. NBC, you do have a choice, however….bring the show back, and it will be a win/win…
