Natasha Richardson Dead At 45; Natasha Richardson Dies Following Skiing Accident
This just in: Actress Natasha Richardson has died.
“Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” an official statement from the star’s family reads.
The Broadway actress, who went on to star in successful films like The Parent Trap, Maid in Manhattan, and Nell, was severely injured while taking a skiing lesson on a beginners trail at Station Mont Tremblant near Montreal on Monday.
The British-born actress, who was not wearing a helmet, seemed fine at first, with no visible injuries, she was even laughing and joking after the accident, a resort rep said Tuesday. But about an hour later, Natasha complained of a headache and was taken to the Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe.
She passed away at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Wednesday evening.
Natasha Richardson is survived by her husband, Irish actor Liam Neeson, who she married in 1994, as well as the couple’s two young sons; Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12.
This is just heartbreaking….Rest In Peace, Natasha. May God keep His arms of protection around her entire family…
