Nadya Suleman Food Stamps: Public Assistance For Octuplets Mom

We’ve got good news for taxpayers in the Great State of California. You get to help support our country’s first surviving set of octuplets!!

Nadya Suleman, the 33-year-old mother of six who gave birth to eight babies two weeks ago, has been receiving public assistance benefits, The Los Angeles Times has learned.

Nadya, of Whittier, California, will receive $490 a month in food stamps, in addition the so-called octomom receives SSI benefits for three of her children, who are disabled, according to The Times.

As you may recall, in a recent interview with The Today Show’s Ann Curry, Nadya said that she was not on welfare.

“I’m not receiving help from the government. I’m not trying to expect anything from anybody. [I] just wanted to do it on my own. Any resources that someone would really, really want to help us, I will accept, I would embrace.”

Well, she has an interesting reason for saying that.

“In Nadya’s view, the money that she gets from the food stamp program … and the resources disabilities payments she gets for her three children are not welfare,” says Nadya’s publicist Michael Furtney . “They are part of programs designed to help people with need, and she does not see that as welfare.”

in order to adopt children, families must undergo intensive background screenings, home visits, and letter of recommendations from at least 3 non family members; so why in the world do not have the same for people who want to have such large quantities of babies. I have never had IVF but have had several friends who have because they wanted A baby. They were implanted with 2 embryos NOT 6. This dr is very unethical and I think that background screenings should be mandatory for IFV.
