Nadya Suleman Child Protective Services Complaint (Child Abuse Claim)

A Los Angeles-area psychiatrist has filed a complaint with the Department of Children and Family Services/Child Protective Services accusing controversial octomom Nadya Suleman of child abuse and urging CPS to step in and remove the serial mommy’s newborn octuplets due to Suleman’s “inability to properly care for her 14 children.”
In the five-page complaint dated last Thursday, Dr. Carole Lieberman uses Nadya’s background to bolster the case that she is a “psychological and physical danger” to her family.
According to the Beverly Hills psychiatrist, Nadya is “severely narcissistic personality, with grandiosity, unrealistic fantasies, a belief that she is special, a need for excessive admiration, a disturbing sense of entitlement, a willingness to exploit other people, a lack of empathy and arrogance.”
Dr. Lieberman believes the 33-year-old lacks empathy for her children, her sperm-donor friend, and her mother, who the doctor believes Nadya has forced into “indentured servitude” by depending on the older woman to help care for her children.
“I would urge you to begin a formal investigation immediately and to take the appropriate steps to remove at least some of them from her care,” Lieberman writes in conclusion.

We should all be greatful to Dr. Lieberman for initating this investigation. Her complaint is excellent and makes a strong case for intervention. No one wants to see children harmed, neglected and exploited. Nadya Suleman is a menatlly ill woman who needs help and her children need to be protected.

Yeah she sounds like she really has these children’s best interests at heart. *eye roll* She refers to them as a litter. very professional.
She’s exploiting this situation. period. and sadly it’s working.

Dr. Lieberman admits she has never even met Nadya Suleman. She has no business reporting anything to Child Protective Services. Furthermore, I’m sure CPS is already jumping in with dollar signs in thier eyes. I’m sure their already counting up how much money they can make off each child.
I don’t condone anyone having so many children, but I don’t agree with the way CPS works either.

I agree and America as well as other countries reading the stories agree. I would love to see all of them together. The eldest kids all ready know of the 8 coming. The bad part is when she said they should remove some of the kids. I feel weird about that phrase. I think it should be the new 8 born not the ones who have bonded. I hope they do not split the 8 but find someone to take all eight or atleast not seperate the two sets of twins and maybe adopt out 4 single and keep a set of twins together at one family and the other set at another.as last resort to do that. Again I still wish they could all stay together but she will need a lot of help. I do not want the mother to profit but she will need the money for the kids all 14 of them or we end up paying. But hire a couple nannies full time with the money from book deals, interviews and such. I also hope they freeze the money and it’s put in a trust to be used on the kids and she can bring in the money but not touch it. OH and also show receipts for every penny. I also hope she pays her parents back an gives them the money back that she cost them.

No money, no husband, no job, about to be no home. No common sense. Possible mental illness.
If that doesn’t define unfit to mother 14 children, I don’t know what does.
Those 8 babies should go to 8 wonderful families who have the means to care for them and their inevitable “special needs”.
Child Protective Services should protect them now and not even allow them to go “home”, wherever that is going to be.
Tell me can 14 children and a mom fit into a car?

For starters, it is not legal to take those children away from this mother. If you truly know the legal definitions of child abuse and child neglect, then you know CPS cannot legally take any of these children.
Allthough CPS consistantly breaks the law and gets away with it. If you don’t know your legal rights and the law then, good luck keeping your children. I hope she gets a good pro-bono lawyer that fights for her parental rights. Poo on the rest of you anti-child people. Its is in our constitution to have the right to reproduce. Not your right to your opinion. I ‘m infuriated by the negative comments and insinuation of her needing to (abort/kill) her unborn children or give them up.
Go mind your on business about your own problems. I’m sure you have plenty.

Good for you Dr. Lieberman! Not all abuse is physical contact! Their house that grandma owns is in foreclosure for one. Nadya is on food stamps. She is abusing our system and abusing our tax dollars. She knowingly put 6 eggs in her when she can’t take care of her other 6 kids. She has two autistic kids she can’t take care of or support. This is a form of child abuse. I won’t support it. These children should be adopted out. Shame on Nadya, shame on her doctor who impregnated it, and shame on anyone who supports this woman. Do what’s right for the kids and put them with loving families who can support them.

First I would like to state that I am in NO WAY in support of Nadya. I think it was completely irresponsible for her to have 8 babies on top of the 6 (some with special needs). I do think its pathetic that at her age she still needs to rely on her older parents to support her. Its sad that they are not going to be able to enjoy actually being grandparents, which is supposed to be fun and relaxing.
It is also really annoying me that she keeps saying that she only has a year and a half in order to get her masters degree and then she will be a counselor. Wonderful. However, even as a counselor she will never makie enough money to support 14 kids.
As a foster care worker for many years I can tell you that more people than I care to mention keep having kids than they can financially care for. She will (and more than likely HAVE TO) qualify and accept benefits on her “income”. Its infuriating I know. But the gov’t cannot take away her “reproductive rights. Personally I believe there should be some test to procreate or some limit on kids you can have if they keep getting removed and placed in foster care.
Btw CPS/foster care does not get a “bonus” or make money by removing children. Not at all. In fact it costs the state of CA a small fortune to house, clothe and care for foster children.
Nadya needs to lay off the degree right now (not forever) and get a job. I have to work and she needs to too. She has a bachelor’s. Use it. Do something. Utilize all those friends you talk about for childcare and work. If you can carry 8 babies, then you are not “disabled”.
Any report that is accepted (and there is a process to this) will be investigated. A psychological asking specifically for a possible MH diagnosis (and jeez it seems that she should have one) and her ability to parent. But a swooping in and removing the children without an investigation would not be acceptable. Plus, one must remember that CPS is not the be all end all. A family court judge needs to uphold the removal. Then he can order her to certain services and conditions. It is not as cut and dried as the public may believe. Plus there are national regulations that are afforded to her under the ASFA (Adoption and Safe Families Act) stating that the parent has 15 out of the last 22 months to basically get her act together and prove that she is able to care for the children. So this could take a long time.
Nadya, get a feasible plan together NOW as to how you are really going to care for these special babies. And seek mental health treatment.

I read Dr. Lieberman’s report, and as a CPS worker I found that report very biased. True, Nadya Suleman may have evidence of psychiatric/psychological issues, but the first and foremost concern that would warrant CPS to remove the children from her custody has to be that the mother cannot parent due to the mental illness. Lets be real here, any competent, experienced doctor cannot just analyze an individual based on excerpts from “media clips” and “interviews”. Any truly dedicated physician would not jump to conclusions this prematurely. Any competent doctor/psychiatrist would not come up with such a conclusion without a THOROUGH and COMPREHENSIVE eval. And in reality, a Doctor needs a “release of information” in order to obtain information about the client, so this Doctor really has attempted to step out of the bounds of confidentially to delve into workman’s compensation records and release confidential information about an individual. Personally, I would sue this doctor for slander and malpractice. Although she is a mandated reporter, all reports are supposed to be confidential and in this case it wasn’t. Shame on CPS for releasing this, and the Dr. for trying to be some psychoanalytical expert. As upsetting as this Suleman circus is, Dr. Lieberman has made a complete mockery out of the profession.

I prayed she would do an open adoption- that was the right thing to do- but she’s so selfish. Now she FINALLY admits she did this all for some guy’s attention. Those poor kids. This father needs to step up. The court of public opinion WOULD give him some voice- and even if he signed some contracts way back when, those contracts are clearly in breach with her crazy behavior.
I know he wants his anonymity, but c’mon…
