Michelle Williams (Not to be confused with that girl from Destiny’s Child…) brings Hollywood’s most famous blonde bombshell to life in My Week with Marilyn.
And we’re getting our first look at the upcoming cinema drama…
The actress, most famous for her roles in Brokeback Mountain and Blue Valentine, stars as Marilyn Monroe in the new movie directed by Simon Curtis. The trailer shows the movie star embarking on a secret love affair as she she films The Prince and the Showgirl alongside Laurence Olivier ( Kenneth Branagh) in 1950s London.
Monroe falls for Colin Clark, Olivier’s assistant, who escorts her around the city after her husband, playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott), leaves town. The troubled star, who was 30 at the time, enjoys a week away from her Hollywood persona and manages to embark on a brief fling with her handsome tour guide. Olivier tries to warn the young man off the illicit romance, saying: “I wouldn’t buy the little girl lost act if were you. I think Marilyn knows exactly what she’s doing.”
Emma Watson, of Harry Potter fame, stars in the film as wardrobe assistant Lucy who doesn’t believe Clark when he claims he’s having an affair with Monroe. Judi Dench takes the role of Sybil Thorndike while Julia Ormond plays Olivier’s wife, actress Vivien Leigh. Dominic Cooper stars as Monroe’s manager Milton Greene.
My Week with Marilyn, which is based on Clark’s diaries, opens in theaters Nov. 18.
