MTV Bringing “Scream” to the Small Screen
Get ready to Scream on the small screen…
Movie Buffs, rejoice! MTV is reportedly developing a TV adaptation of the Scream film franchise.
Tattling tipsters tell TV Line’s Michael Ausiello that the network is putting together a new version of Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson’s hit slasher series that could invade the airwaves of Music Television as early as next year. The project will be executive produced by Tony DiSanto (The Hills and Teen Mom) and Liz Gateley (The Hard Times of RJ Berger).
In recent years, MTV has found success with scripted versions of cinemas hits like Teen Wolf and Awkward. No word yet on whether or not Craven and Williamson will have any involvement with the TV series, but the search is already on for a scribe to pen the project.
The Scream films taken in more than $500 million at the worldwide box office since premiering in 1996. Last year’s Scream 4 grossed $40 million in the US.
