Terrifying Video Shows What Happens When An Avalanche Hits Mount Everest Base Camp

As if climbing Mount Everest wasn’t nerve racking enough, a group of hopeful climbers recently came under attack by an avalanche.

In the video, which features some strong language, one of the climbers screams “The ground is shaking.”

The point of view video shows as a massive amount of snow tears through base camp at Mount Everest on Saturday. The avalanche was triggered by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal.

The crazy avalanche video was filmed by German climber Jost Kobusch. The footage shows that people at the camp had little forewarning that an avalanche was heading their way. It is estimated that at least 18 people died and 61 people were injured during the avalanche.
