Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the Summer smash The Dark Knight, has been accused of assaulting his mother and sister in an East London hotel room over the weekend.

The thirty-four year old Wales-born actor will be questioned late Tuesday about allegations that he assaulted his 61 year-old mother Jenny and sister Sharon, 40, in a Dorcester hotel suite just hours before Sunday’s European premiere of The Dark Knight.

“It was a very difficult situation but it would have been wrong to have wrecked the premiere over a complaint which we don’t yet know is founded in truth,” a family friend says.

Scotland Yard said: “We can confirm that we have received an allegation from another force in relation to an incident in central London.”

Not enough info has been released….assault can be as innocent as touching someone’s clothes or as bad as hitting and beating someone up. Obviously his sister and mum didn’t go to a hospital and they went straight to the police. Plus, if it wasn’t that severe why try to ruin your son’s and/or brother’s career just before his big premier. It could’ve been resolved among the family. The news is going to blow it up as if he beat the hell out of his family, but I think with the fact his mum and sis didn’t go to the hospital first shows that they weren’t injured. Also the fact they went straight to the police to file a Formal complaint, which is no big deal, shows that it wasn’t as severe as the news makes it out to be, and they didn’t arrest Bale immediately but only want to question him to hear his account. This tells me the mum and sis had no physical injuries for the police to convict him with.

And you never know with his mum and sis, he’s so successful (especially now) that they might want a piece of the pie. Money and success changes people and family is no exception so it’s easy to see mum and sis as a victim, but to play devil’s advocate I can also see that his mum and sis might be trying to get some press or money out of Bale due to his success with the Batman franchise…

So we’ll see as more unfolds….

Bale seems too in-control of himself and too smart to ever physically go after anyone

His mother and sister didn’t call the police, someone who overheard the fight did. I think that speaks volumes. Yes, they filed a report with the police which was very much in their best interest for the sake of their safety. I believe them. We don’t know Christian Bale. Just because he “seems” in-control of himself and plays a hero in a movie and is good-looking and a famous star does not mean we know what goes on behind closed doors. I am so fed up with this society blaming the victim/s.

I’ve seen how this cycle goes. People rarely start out beating the shit out of a family member. It usually starts out with severe verbal assault, escalates into hitting that does not send someone to the hospital and then the next thing you know that person breaks a family member’s bone, beats the family member until s/he is bleeding, etc.

We don’t know Christian Bale. I don’t care how wonderful of a guy he SEEMS. It is VERY rare family members make something like this up.

@Jess: actually it isn’t as rare as you might think. I am speaking, not as a biased fan, but of a student in the area of family studies. There are plenty of people who just generally pretty messed up and have no hesitation to lie or make false accusations ESPECIALLY if they are accusing a family member who happens to be very successful.

If a family is not a close-knit one, a successful member of that family can be seen as a threat to the rest of the relatives. Bale did not grow up well-to-do in England and has made a name for himself. If he’s estranged from his family and they want a piece of the “financial pie” why wouldn’t they stoop to the level of making false accusations? Any outcome would end with some money, I’m sure. Either they go to court and sue him for assault and pain and suffering, OR his people settle with them and that means still getting money.

Of course I am playing a little bit of Devil’s Advocate with you, because yes we don’t know him, BUT you also can’t honestly think that ALL victims are victims. People lie, people cheat each other, PEOPLE ARE SELFISH. that’s just they way it is. And it happens more than you think. Don’t immediately put your naive faith in the supposed victims. they need to be checked out just as much as the accused does. Accusation does not equal guilty. and that’s what’s wrong with the stupid people in our country…they don’t use the brains God gave them.

What do you think?
