Montgomery Burns For Mayor Of New York City
Mr. Burns Hearts New York! The Simpsons villain Charles Montgomery Burns scored the most write-in votes in the recent New York City mayoral election.
According to CNN, data released by the New York City Board of Elections reveals that the animated owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant received 27 of the 299 write-in votes.
Other write-in candidates in the November election ranged from well-known politicians (Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani) to the deceased (Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt) to the outrageous (Mad Magazine cover man Alfred E. Newman, Sleeping Beauty and Mickey Mouse). Howard Stern and Derek Jeter also received write-in votes.
Ultimately, Mr. Burns was soundly defeated by billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who won a third term. Burns ran for office in the 1990 episode of The Simpsons titled “Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish,” though his attempts to become state governor were thwarted by Marge.
