It took a while, but when Modern Family returns for its new season this fall, gay couple Cameron and Mitchell will share their first onscreen kiss — much to the delight of some fans.
In the wake of criticism, and even a Facebook campaign to get Baby Lily’s dads to liplock, Steve Levitan — executive producer of the Emmy-nominated series — assures E! that Cameron and Mitchell will be taking their so-far kiss-less marriage to the next level during the show’s eagerly-anticipated sophomore season.
“We’ve had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject of (their being affectionate),” Levitan told E! Monday. “So it almost bothers us that there was a little bit of controversy about it. Because we don’t want to appear that we’re answering that criticism. But sure enough, we’re dealing with public displays of affection, and the power of a kiss. Seems simple, but intriguing – I hope.”
