Meet the woman whose honesty helped Kristen Dalton take the crown at last night’s Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas. Miss California’s answer to a question about legalizing same-sex marriage is making the rounds on the blogosphere this morning.

The tall blonde stumbled some before giving an answer to a question posed by judge Perez Hilton, the infamously openly gay gossip blogger.

Perez asked this question: “Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”

“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage,” Prejean said. “And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Some in the audience cheered, others booed.

On a video blog posted on his website late Sunday, Perez lit into the beauty queen, insisting that Prejean should have beem more diplomatic.

“She lost not because she doesn’t believe in gay marriage, she lost because she’s a dumb bitch!”

He suggested she should have said: “Perez, that’s a great question and that’s a very hot topic in our country right now. I think it’s a question that each state should answer for themselves because that’s our forefathers designed our government. The states rule themselves and then there are certain laws that are federal.”
