Mischa Barton’s dream of leaving The O.C. in the dust and tackling more adult acting projects may soon manifests itself with a starring role on The CW’s upcoming remake of the 90s’ primetime soap Melrose Place.

According to scoop from Zap2It.com, the actress best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. tested for a role on The CW’s revamped Melrose.

The source is quoted as saying that the network is very excited about the prospect of casting Mischa on the new show, which is scheduled to debut this Fall. In 2008, The CW courted Barton for the role of Georgina Sparks on the network’s hit series Gossip Girl; the part that eventually went to Michelle Trachtenberg.
