What a difference a decade makes…
Mischa Barton, the one-time breakout star of TV’s The O.C., is facing foreclosure on her massive Beverly Hills mansion, celebrity informants have learned.
A default notice obtained by TMZ and People claims the out-of-work actress has fallen about $100 million behind in mortgage payments over the past year. Barton purchased the property in 2005, at the height of her popularity playing Marissa Cooper on the FOX teen comedy that made her a star. At the time, a then 19-year-old Mischa took out a $4.2 million loan o finance the hefty $6.4 million price tag.
Mischa has been trying unsuccessfully to unload the property ever since FOX axed The O.C. in 2007. The 1.2 acre estate has been on the market twice, once in 2010 and another time in 2013. She even tried renting the pad for $35,000 a month, but with a total of eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and three guesthouses, takers have been few and far between.
Now 28, Mischa has been in and out of psychiatric care since her arrest for DUI in 2007.
