Miley Cyrus Twerking VMAs Performance Not a Huge Hit on Social Media
Looks like Miley Cyrus has succeeded in getting rid of her tame, wig-wearing Hannah Montana alter-ego. And all she had to do was thrust her hoo-ha with a foam finger, twerk with teddy bears and give a very-married Robin Thicke a private dance that would make a stripper blush…all live at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Performing her single “We Can’t Stop” and taking the phrase “tongue wagging” to a whole new level, Miley’s gyrating performance at Sunday’s show catapulted her to mega-headlines on social media. At one point, the 20-year-old singer grabbed the rear end of one of her dancers before bending over to shake her own booty at the audience.
The display was so disturbing, in fact, it had Will Smith and his kids looking at her like this…
And the Smith Clan wasn’t the only group of celebs taken aback by the XXX-rated showing:
James Van Der Beek tweeted: “Things I learned watching the #VMAs2013: There’s nothing you can do with a foam finger that you can’t air on MTV.”
Kelly Clarkson added, with shade might we add: “Just saw a couple performances from the VMA’s last night. 2 words… #pitchystrippers”
B.o.B. chimed in with: “when a black girl twerks, it’s ratchet. when a white girl does it, it’s entertainment”
Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson said: “I just watched the #VMAs & I know I’m going to have nightmares about Miley Cyrus playing a tiny harp where her “red light area” is”
Funnyman David Spade added: “Mileys getting out-twerked by pro dancers right now. #unfortch”
Miley’s “people” were equally confused by her show, one snoop tells Us Weekly:
“Miley’s team is freaking about that performance. They saw the rehearsals, but those were really played down compared to the live performance.”
