Mick Jagger’s Mourns Girlfriend, Designer L’Wren Scott, After Apparent Suicide
Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger is said to be “devastated” after the suicide of his longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott. The former model, 49, was found hanging from a scarf in her Manhattan apartment by her assistant just after 10 a.m. Monday morning.
The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office has not completed an autopsy, but officials are calling’s Scott’s death a suicide. A rep for Jagger, who is currently on tour in Australia, says the star was “shocked and devastated” to learn of L’Wren’s passing.
After stepping away from the runway, L’Wren turned her focus to designing and had dressed the A-list likes of Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and First Lady Michelle Obama. A former stylist to Julia Roberts and Madonna, Scott was rumored to be in the running to design Angie’s long-awaited wedding dress.
The fashionista began dating Jagger, 70, in 2001, but she was vocal about her displeasure with being known simply as another of the musician’s beautiful conquests.
“I’m a fashion designer. I don’t want to be defined as someone’s girlfriend. You always wonder if people will pay attention to the hard work that goes into what you do. And when you’re taking something on your own, it’s your company, your investment — your life.”
