Are Michelle Obama’s fashion choices pushing the envelope?

After returning from a trip to the Grand Canyon over the weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama was photographed exiting Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix wearing a pair of “short shorts” some political commentators are calling “inappropriate.”

Seriously?

“We don’t see first ladies looking informal,” said Robin Givhan of The Washington Post. “We’re still grappling with what the first lady is supposed to be all about.”

What do you guys think? How “appropriate” is it for the nation’s First Lady to wear loose-fitting, mid-thigh length shorts during a weekend trip with her family?
