Michelle Obama: “Sasha & Malia Dolls Inappropriate”

First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken out against two newly-released dolls that share the same names as her tween daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Ty – the maker of Beanie Babies – recently released 12-inch “Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia” dolls as part of its popular TyGirlz collection, but the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company insists the dolls are not based on the First Daughters, ages 7 and 10.

That’s a claim that isn’t flying at The White House.

“We believe it is inappropriate to use young, private citizens for marketing purposes,” the First Lady’s press secretary, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, said in a statement Friday.

I agree. It's inappropriate to use them for marketing purposes. My reasons are: 1. that it was done without permission and 2: it places unsolicited pressure on the children. They're wellness taken into consideraton. To the industry it's just marketing and money. Using Obama on a plate and other memorablia is one thing, but indirectly using the children is abusive.

Michelle Obama needs to sue TyGirtz Collection on behalf of her daughters Sasha and Malia.

Furthermore the public should not buy the dolls.

The Dolls are a mockery of the President daughters, the President and the 1st lady are lawyers, they are skilled in violations of privacy rights for their daughters.

Good point Lindsey. Those dolls are obscenely well developed given the ages they are supposed to represent. Even worse, Ty denied it and said they just liked the names and that they did not intend for there to be a likeness. As if we're all that stupid. Give me a break.

What do you think?
