Michelle Obama Barack Obama New Yorker Magazine July 2008 Cover Photo

The campaign team for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has blasted the latest issue of the New Yorker Magazine as “tasteless and offensive.”
The cartoon cover depicts the Illinois senator and wife Michelle Obama, in a Somali robe and turban, exchanging a fist bump in the Oval Office-a portrait of Osama bin Laden and an American flag in the fireplace are also featured in the image.
“The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama’s right wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree,” Obama’s campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.
“We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive,” a spokesman for Senator McCain said.

Without a shadow of doubt portrays what some people say about him and his wife. It is rather amusing because the New Yorker is trying to say these are all the silly things people say about a man who is running for president. Of course there not true and the cartoon brings it all into one picture. Nice Job and thank you for reminding us that humor is needed sometimes to get past the idiots who actually think the man is anti- american.

TO: The New Yorker Magazine
I think that your company should appoint the artist of the cover picture as CEO of your company. This person is one of the few people in the United States that has a true insight and perspective of the Obama couple. Your artist is a brilliant and talented person.
I really appreciate your magazine and thank your staff for use and printing the picture for your cover. It is absolutely the best representation of Obama and his wife that has been spoken, photographed or drawn.
Everyone else including “no spine, weak knees” McCain are fussing about the picture. How and why do you fuss about the truth. This picture captures every attitude, philosophy, and socialistic belief that his couple has.
I truly hope that your magazine cover is the means to open the doors of truth and insight which will cause the American people to run, run, run away from this false prophet.
Kudos, thanks, hoorah, wonderful, great, fantastic, etc, etc, etc.
Keep up the wonderful work. Keep this socialistic fraud away from the White House.
Thanks…

The New Yorker magazine has a long history of satirical cartoon covers. There’s the one with George W and Cheney depicted as Broke Back Mountain … The one with Bush dusting, while Cheney has his feet up … etc. … so Obama and his supporters should lighten up.

Karen, I think you need to remind yourself which President sent John McCain and all the others young boys (some barely out of high school) into Vietnam and gave them their orders. Trust me, none of what happened was HIS idea.

Wow! Michelle Obama arrogant? How do you she’s arrogant? Do you really mean “uppity n%$$er?” That’s what you really want to say!
Prejudice and racism shows itself in so many words. I love it when I see people like you coming around the corner.

Racism is alive and well. I guess it is a lot easier for racists to hide behind their keyboards in their homes than to speak their mind in public. White Americans have and will always be insensitive to racial injustice unless they feel it is prejudiced against them. White racism always ends with a lighten up (giggle, giggle). It is hilarious that people are so free to express their opinions when they wont get that A%# beat.
