Michael Vick Cancels Interview With Oprah
No one puts Oprah in a corner…unless of course your name is Michael Vick.
Last month, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback said he’d prefer an interview with Oprah Winfrey over CNN’s Piers Morgan. This week, Oprah made the deal happen.
Only now, it’s not.
The NFL star whose name became synonymous with pooch-slaying after he spent 18 months in prison over a dogfighting operation based on his property in Surry County, Virginia had been scheduled to visit the The Oprah Winfrey Show for a pre-recorded tell-all chat with The Queen of Talk. Vick, however, abruptly cancelled the interview just hours before making the flight to Chicago on Wednesday afternoon. The interview would have covered Vick’s time in prison, his work with the Humane Society, and his successful return to pro ball.
“Michael Vick was scheduled to be a guest on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ for an episode airing next Thursday, February 24,” says a rep for Harpo Productions. “Mr. Vick’s representatives called last night to cancel his appearance for personal reasons.”
No reason has been given for the change of plans, but Piers wasted no time trying to snatch up an interview with the QB, Tweeting: “Dear @MikeVick sorry to hear about you cancelling @Oprah,” on Thursday. “I’m here if you need me. Kind regards Piers.”
Cold feet perhaps?
