22-time Olympic Medalist, Michael Phelps, has confirmed that he will be competing in just a couple of weeks, at Mesa Grand Prix in Arizona from April 24-26. Phelps will more than likely will make a run at the Olympic team that will compete in 2016 in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
“I think he’s just going to test the waters a little bit and see how it goes,” said Phelps’ longtime coach, Bob Bowman. “I wouldn’t say it’s a full-fledged comeback.”
“He’s gotten back into good shape since September,” Bowman continued. “He can give a good effort and certainly not be embarrassed. He’s in enough shape to swim competitively.”
Phelps “rival” an fellow-Olympian Ryan Lochte is also expected to compete at the Mesa Grand Prix competition.
