Michael Lohan Heads To “The Early Show” To Defend Lindsay In Rehab Assault Scandal
Well….you knew this was coming. LiLo’s in hot water again, which means it was only a matter of time before her Bible-thumping, camera-lovin’ daddy, Michael, arrived in his white cape to preach to us about why none of it is her fault.
When is it ever?
Lohan’s father is adamant the actress is not to blame for an alleged altercation with a staffer at the Betty Ford Rehab Clinic, claiming the employee “had it in for Lindsay” and snapped when the star was 10 minutes late returning to the facility after a trip to the hair dresser for a wash and trim.
“The woman who claims she was attacked in the house had it out for Lindsay since day one. She didn’t want her to drive and didn’t want to give her any passes to go out,” Michael told CBS’ The Early Show Wednesday.
“Lindsay had gone to get her hair done with two girls from Betty Ford. While Lindsay was at the salon, the two girls left for a bit. After the girls got back to pick up Lindsay, they returned to Betty Ford ten minutes late. When they walked in, instead of the Betty Ford staffer addressing all the girls, she grabbed Lindsay by the arm and told her she needed to take a urine sample immediately. Lindsay told the woman, ‘Get your hands off me’ and brushed her away.”
Lohan’s mother, Dina — who appeared on The TODAY Show less than a month ago to sing the praises of the Betty Ford Do Gooders — has also spoken out about her daughter’s troubles, telling The New York Post: “There’s a mole in the place. Someone in there’s trying to hurt her before she gets out.”
A 911 call was placed from the center at 1.03AM on Dec. 12 and Lohan’s lawyer claims it was the actress who called the authorities.
Dawn Holland is the now-former Betty Ford staffer at the center of the furor. She says Lindsay – - who is currently undergoing a court-ordered rehabilitation stay until early January — began “yelling and screaming” after she was caught returning late to her sober living facility after a night out with some fellow patients on Dec. 12. Lindsay never assaulted her.” Dawn also believes Lohan, who recently celebrated 100 days of sobriety, had been drinking.
“Lindsay and two other patients had snuck out, went drinking, and tried to sneak back in. And they got caught. We were told by administration to do a breathalyzer test, which she refused to do. She was angry and out of control,” Dawn explains.
According to the former worker, when she went to call the police, Lindsay “kept yelling and cursing and screaming and then she grabbed my wrist and twisted my arm and my hand to get the phone.”
Dawn – who was dismissed from her job at the clinic on Tuesday after discussing the assault scandal with the media – added that Lindsay was the only one of the three patients who continued to be “uncooperative” after she had been caught.
“She was the only patient out of the three who was being very uncooperative and out of control. I did not touch the woman! I am not willing to risk my job over any patient,” Holland told TMZ during the interview that eventually got the clinical technican sacked.
Cops in Palm Springs are now investigating Lohan for battery. If she’s charged, the incident could be deemed a violation of her probation on a 2007 DUI charge, an offense which would likely send the Mean Girls actress back behind bars for up to six months.
Lindsay is expected to leave rehab on Jan. 3.
