Michael Lohan Duped “Late Show” Producers Into Booking Lindsay

Remember a few hours ago when we told you that Lindsay Lohan had effectively distancing herself for a rumored booking to deliver the nightly Top 10 list on tomorrow’s edition of the Late Show with David Letterman? Well, as it turns on, the show’s bookers were duped into thinking Lindsay Lohan had agreed to appear on the New York program via satellite from a studio near her home in Venice — and you’ll never believe who’s at the center of the confusion:

Her father Michael!

“Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday’s LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, as had been previously announced. We made a mistake,” Tom Keaney, a spokesman for Letterman’s production company said in a statement Wednesday after a writer for the show Tweeted that Lohan would be on the show.

“Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future,” the statement continued.

“I am NOT going to be doing David Letterman, I’m not sure how this happened, but I am sorry for the confusion…” was the Tweet Lohan herself sent out in response to the news Tuesday.

That’s simply not true, according to Dear Old Dad, Michael. He insists that he reached out to Dave’ “people” after the CBS comic cracked a joke at Lindsay’s expense (So what else is new?) during a broadcast last week. Michael says Lindsay “knew full well” about the booking and they’d even discussed transportation to and from the Los Angeles studio. In fact, the elder Lohan says his Little Meal Ticket only balked at the Letterman idea once her PR team got involved and shut things down.

At any rate, Mike’s fuming.

“Anything positive that I bring into her life … [her people] try to nix it.”
