A Michael Jackson tribute concert scheduled for next June has been scrapped.
The show, which was originally planned in Vienna and moved to London after top acts dropped out, has been cancelled after the event’s organizer closed down, the company’s liquidator said on Friday.
The company — now officially known as World Awards Media GmbH in Liquidation — said in a statement today that the decision to dissolve the firm was made at the end of November. The statement did not provide any details but liquidator Martin Schneider said the main sponsor had decided to no longer financially support it.
“The company cannot sign any new contracts and will certainly not plan any new events,” Schneider said Friday.
Michael Jackson died June 25 in Los Angeles at age 50. His 1982 “Thriller” is the highest-selling album of all time
