Give honor and credit where it is due. There is no argument that he is talented and should be recognized for his accomplishments. People in his position should be more responsible to prevent the lawsuits that helped ruin his career. Otherwise, they suffer, as well as their careers. Michael Jackson is a very intelligent person and a savvy businessman despite not having tons of degrees. Rarely do we see originality anymore. There are too many cookie cutter stars today. Rap has baggie pants, cursing, anger, several women on the hip, and jewelry. The women have their hair blowing from fans while they twitch, moan, groan, beg, coo in their short skirts or skimpy wear, males go shirtless, or pull off their shirts, and copy Michael jackson's moves. When stars get on the stage, they yell and scream to outdo one another with who can do the most runs with their voices. Should an award be given to Michael, who did not steal others' music, but gave credit to Sammy Davis Jr. for dance moves? Should it be unique to him? Next time you wonder, flip on the channel to see what I've described and I believe one can only agree that Michael should be given an award unique to him. And, when the next truly original person comes along, then give that person an innovation award as well. Make it worth it to entertainers to be unique. Give people their "props" while they are alive. When Michael's dead and gone, we won't be able to give him the awards he's due for his global contribution to the arts. I appreciate the art of Michael Jackson, although I am not a fan of his. What entertainer today can match his charisma, creativity, innovation?
