Many Michael Jackson fans are wondering why the 50th Annual Grammy Awards commenced last week without a single mention of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the World’s Best-Selling Album, Thriller. The New York Post claims Jacko missed out on a previously planned tribute because his diva demands were too excessive for Grammy producers.

The forty-nine year-old was reportedly dropped from the ceremony after he insisted a special honoree was on hand to introduce him to the stage. He also reportedly demanded a special award, which was unique to him that no one would ever receive again.

Michael even requested that the entire event was dedicated to his career with no less than thirty mentions to him as the King of Pop.

I don’ think that his request was wrong! This king of pop was treated badly, ruined, and we should be ready to apologise to him for potential loss of earnings.

Why should he not have a record carpet rolled for him? What entertainer today can match his charisma, creativity, innovation? In fact they all model themselves on Michael Jackson dance routine.

I say good luck to him and I hope that he will make a come back.

I appreciate the art of Michael Jackson, although I am not a fan of his. Give honor and credit where it is due. There is no argument that he is talented and should be recognized for his accomplishments. People in his position should be more responsible to prevent the lawsuits that helped ruin his career. Otherwise, they suffer, as well as their careers. Michael Jackson is a very intelligent person and a savvy businessman despite not having tons of degrees. Rarely do we see originality anymore. There are too many cookie cutter stars today. Rap has baggie pants, cursing, anger, several women on the hip, and jewelry. The women have their hair blowing from fans while they twitch, moan, groan, beg, coo in their short skirts or skimpy wear, males go shirtless, or pull off their shirts, and copy Michael jackson’s moves. When stars get on the stage, they yell and scream to outdo one another with who can do the most runs with their voices. Should an award be given to Michael, who did not steal others’ music, but gave credit to Sammy Davis Jr. for dance moves? Should it be unique to him? Next time you wonder, flip on the channel to see what I’ve described and I believe one can only agree that Michael should be given an award unique to him. And, when the next truly original person comes along, then give that person an innovation award as well. Make it worth it to entertainers to be unique. Give people their “props” while they are alive. When Michael’s dead and gone, we won’t be able to give him the awards he’s due for his global contribution to the arts.
